Nutrition Program

Carolina House proudly serves people of all genders age 17 and older from across the country who are struggling with eating disorders and other co-occurring concerns.

Our staff has the expertise in food and nutrition to help optimize clients’ health and enhance their quality of life. After a comprehensive nutrition assessment with Carolina House’s registered dietitian and licensed dietitian nutritionist, a specific nutrition plan is established for each patient. Through individual and group sessions, clients learn to re-establish a healthy relationship with food, changing it from scary to nourishing and nurturing. Mindful eating exercises are used to facilitate this process.

Through cultivating the kitchen garden, educational food shopping experiences, and meal preparation groups Carolina House employs a unique approach in the treatment of disorder eating behaviors. Food issues are closely examined to re-frame food as a tool to optimal health and comprehensive awareness, rather than an adversary. To facilitate restoration of nutritional wellbeing, we encourage clients to move beyond issues they have with food, and recognize their potential for greatness when they nourish themselves and find a healthy balance in the food they eat.

While I was stuck in my eating disorder, I felt lost and insecure. Carolina House helped me regain control of my life and I couldn’t be happier!
